In 2007, AJ with his sister Jessica, was given a Special Award for their act in the church talent show. That show was seen by a member of the Terry Hill Music Foundation who recommended AJ for a music scholarship. AJ won the scholarship and takes guitar lessons from Matt Moorehead at PicknGrin.

As you can guess AJ loves music. His favorite is 80's and top 40 hits.

Though he is learning to play acoustic guitar, by the way he broke a string at his last lesson. He also enjoys electric drums, the keyboard, and electric guitar. He has a DJ mixing machine CDplayer that he likes to play.

AJ's favorite movie is "SCHOOL OF ROCK" and he will say the "Pledge to the band"  with his hand over his heart every time.
AJ  wasn't born with Autism. Autism happened to AJ when he was 1 1/2 yrs old. While there is not a cure for Autism there are alot of therapies that will help AJ. Autism doesn't hurt him. He isn't sad about it. He's happy just to be who he is.
AJ likes to play "Guitar Hero" on his Play station 2.

Other things he likes: roller skating, listening to music, karaoke, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking and most computer games.

AJ doesn't like: green vegetables, his sister bossing him around, and people that ask him alot of questions.
AJ is currently in Ms. Williams class at Farragut Middle School.

At Farragut Intermediate he had Ms. Forsyth for 5th grade, Ms. O'Donnell for 4th and Ms. Ellison for 3rd grade.

AJ's favorite part of school is lunch and chorus.

AJ used to spend half the day in his regular classes and half the day in special education, but his autism has made it hard  for him to adjust to middle school.
[Jokes]
AJ can talk just fine but doesn't have alot to say.

If you talk to AJ make it simple short sentences.

He will  answer short questions like: How are you?

Or if you just want to show your support ask him to give you "High 5"..
You may hear AJ sing alot, that is because he hears the music in his head and unlike you he can't tune it out and do his work. He gets caught up in the music.
Autism is a disorder of the brain. Autistic people can be very smart. Many Autistics biggest problem areas are communicating and making friends. They just can't figure it out.
Autism
Sometimes AJ gets really frustrated and yells. This is because he doesn't know how to answer a question or he thinks someone is bossing him around.

He can have a short temper and has knocked over a chair or two before he calms down.  Lots of people need to learn to control their temper.
